Smaller galaxies, less AI and less planets should help here the most, right? An increase in terretory, fleets and pops just takes more time to manage, which ultimativemy means less ticks per secod.

Is this true for both the player and the AI?Īdditionally, in order to better understand how to trim my game for the best performance, I'd like to understand the different possible causes between stuttering and slowing. In order to maintain a large and plentyful modlist for my games I am quite curious what the perpetrator of these problems might be: I've previously read Dev Diary #149 about performance issues and noted that pops and jobs have the biggest impact right now. Currently vanilly seems to be quite free of suttering (I saw a few fleets 'stutter' at hyperlanes, although that might just be an icon glitch), but it is still quite present in modded games. It was driving me crazy about a year ago, where suttering would start in small vanilla galaxies about 50 years into the game and then got exponentially worse. The second one is stuttering: I don't know if the whole game stutters or just ships and fleets. That's actually not too big of an issues anymore, not bad enough to make me quit, but it makes the lategame drag quite a bit. I know HOI4 had the same problems a while ago, where by 1944 you were basically playing the game in real-time (had something to do with the AI micromanaging a lot of divisions as far as I know). The first one is the game slowing down: Time slows down, every decade goes by slower, every new Titan seems to build loger than the previous one and fleets travel for an eternety between the remote sectors of my galaxy.

Stellaris - especially since the planet and district update - has never had the best performance in lategame for me despite my quite powerful hardware.Īlthough the performance gradually improves with each patch there are still 2 issues i regulalry enounter during lategame: I had to deal with quite a few performance problems in the past and newer paradox games are prone to slow down in lategame. That's why I tend to have games with huge modlists.
